The Hardest Day In The ONE14 System

A one-day challenge for the Muslim who is done with easy finish lines

Registration Closes on July 5th

"The NJ Challenge tests one thing :
what you are made of when both the Qur'an and the miles are required."

You choose the miles. You commit to the Surah. Both are required. Both are measured. If you leave one behind, you haven't finished—you've just taken the easy way out.

Choose Your Challenge

Every distance carries a Surah. Every Surah carries a meaning. Pick the distance that demands more from you than you have ever asked of yourself.

10K

The Minimum of the Maximum

The Heart

Surah Yaseen (83 Ayahs) + 10k
  • The door into the NJ Challenge system.
  • Master the heart of the Qur'an — Surah Yaseen — for those ready to double the effort.
  • The first step toward a discipline you will never want to break.
  • The Heart 10K: You will recite the morning of the race.

Half Marathon

The Cave

Surah Al-Kahf (110 ayahs) + 21.1 km
  • Stop listening to Al-Kahf once a week and start owning it for a lifetime.
  • Face the stories of faith, youth, and perseverance.
  • Finish here to unlock the longer distances

Full Marathon

The Heights

Al-A'raf (206 ayahs) + 42.2 km
  • Full marathon distance paired with the 206 ayahs of Al-A'raf.
  • A Surah that maps every choice between guidance and consequence.
  • Hold your standard as you face the weight of every choice made or avoided.

Ultra Marathon

The Cow

Al-Baqarah (286 ayahs) + 80k
  • The second longest choice available in the system.
  • The longest Surah in the Qur'an and the most complete body of guidance in the book
  • The distance most endurance runners treat as the outer edge of what the body will do

Is This For You?

This Is For You If

  • You demand discipline in every area of your life.
  • You are done with easy. You want worthy.
  • You seek a challenge that pushes your body and soul to the limit.
  • You are tired of watered-down standards.
  • You want to belong to a tribe that holds a standard.

This May Not Be For You If

  • You want Qur'an to be optional.
  • You're looking for a casual run with no spiritual challenge.
  • You prioritize comfort over confronting your nafs.
  • You're not ready to commit to both the Qur'an and the miles.
  • You want something easy to complete.

YOU'RE PROBABLY THINKING THE SAME THING THEY WERE.

None of them were ready. All of them said why not.

I don't think I'm that person

“Why not you? Why settle for less?

I personally never gave The Heights challenge a thought until someone asked what I was doing this year and mentioned it. As soon as he asked, I just thought: Why not? Why can’t I do it?

I've never formally trained for a marathon. Surah Al-A'raf will be a completely new challenge for me, nearly double the length of Surah Al-Kahf.

To me, this will be the hardest part. For some it will be the running. For others, the Quran. For some both. But this forces us to confront what we think we can do and the limits we put on ourselves.

ONE14 pushed me to finish Al-Kahf when I never thought I could. With determination and the help of Allah SWT, all is possible.

A brother. ONE14 Challenger

I don’t have time to memorize long surahs

“I am one of the people that really struggles with the Quran portion, not because it's difficult to memorize but because I don't feel like I have the time. But deep down I know that isn't true.

If you break it down, all you would have to do is memorize 4 ayahs a week to be done in 24 weeks. When you look at it like that it doesn't seem as daunting.”

A sister, ONE14 Challenger

I’m not a runner

“I’m signing up for the half marathon today. I'm only 4 weeks post op for knee surgery and I won't be cleared to run by October, so I'm walking it.”

A sister, recovering from injury

What if I sign up and can't deliver?

“The first time I did this, I hadn't memorized even half my Surah. What I had memorized was riddled with mistakes. I showed up anyway. And the year after, I finished it.

The journey does not end with the first time you do it. Don't let perfection be the enemy of good.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Go at your own pace. Walk, run, or do a mix of both. The distance and the Quran are the challenge. How fast you cover the miles is not. What is required is that you finish both.

Yes. Running the distance without the recitation does not qualify you for the medal. This is not an add-on; it is half the challenge.

You will recite your Surah 1-on-1 to a gender-specific proctor. The timing depends on your chosen distance:

The Cow & Twin Lights: These portions must be completed in advance, as they are too long to recite on the morning of the challenge.
Half & Full Marathon: You have the choice to recite live on the morning of the challenge or in advance.

Note: If you choose to recite in advance, you must schedule your session with us ahead of time so we can arrange a proctor.

We do not demand a perfect, mistake-free recitation. We demand that you show up and make the effort your nafs tells you not to make. If you stumble, your proctor will help you find your place so you can finish the work.

The entry point for the NJ Challenge is the The Heart challenge (Surah Al-kahf+10km). If you are not currently training at this level, we recommend starting your training now and joining us when you are ready. For more accessible distances, look into our Maryland or Virtual events.

Registration is currently open for all distances. While a formal 'Qualifier Pathway' is in development for the 114K, it is not yet active for this event.

Absolutely. We have participants traveling from across the U.S. and internationally. Please note that travel and accommodation are your responsibility for the event.

We have curated a list of recommended hotels and stays within minutes of the challenge area. This list is included in your Welcome package, which you receive after registering.

Yes. We encourage supporters to join us on the course and at the finish line. They are welcome to attend and support on their own terms.

You will receive a Welcome package and an invite to our private WhatsApp community. You will gain access to our Strava club, our Tarteel Quran Circle, and a specialized Hifz Guide to help you memorize your Surah before challenge day.

It represents the successful union of physical endurance and spiritual focus. Earning this medal grants you the title of Conqueror within the ONE14 System—a mark of those who refused the easy finish line.
